BACKGROUND & HISTORY:
Determined and stubborn even before she was born, her mother used to joke that Keira must have elbowed her twin sister Kaitlin out of the way to be first out the womb. Born first and the eldest out of three witch siblings Keira has always understood the heavy burden duty on her as the eldest child in the ever dwindling Sullivan clan.

The Sullivan clan comes from a long line of hereditary witches stretching back into Siren Cove history. Known for their ability to get things done and strong defensive capabilities, their murky reputation has always preceded them. Though the more recent generations of Sullivan’s, particularly Keira’s mother and father, are known to be pillars of the magical community, their ancestors actions for ‘Protection’ rackets are still the lingering legacy of years of mistrust.

Working on her magic from a young age, Keira expressed a more natural ability for plants and herbology something that her mother also specialized in. Working closely with her mother and with Kaitlin, Keira’s abilities blossomed and the twins (and later their younger brother Aidan) were often found practically attached to their mother while she worked at the tavern. Vocal members of the community, Keira’s parents taught her how to speak out against injustice perceived or not.

Life was hard but good and Keira grew up quite happily until her twelfth birthday. During the twins birthday party, their mother collapsed suddenly and despite attempts to revive her, nothing could be done to help her. While her siblings grieved, Keira tried to look after them all pushing her own feelings aside for theirs.

Keira worked hard throughout high school, both at school, at home and at her part-time job. And despite her mouth, her occasional flare ups of temper she was still offered a scholarship to Stanford. But there was never any doubt in her father’s mind that the twins would go to college together and despite her scholarship; Keira followed Kaitlin to her choice of college instead.

Despite getting good grades, Keira always felt out of place there and felt out of place especially with Kaitlin’s new friends. Steadily the two girls grew up and apart, Kaitlin in particular yearning for freedom from her sister’s over-protectiveness. Despite their rows and fights, the pair graduated and returned home.

Though Keira has had brief, flirtatious relationships and affairs, she has never been able to maintain a committed relationship. Unable, or unwilling, to let anyone in Keira has usually pushed those romantically interested in her away before the relationship turns serious.

Until she returned to her hometown, Keira never felt like she had a purpose. While returning home was initially Kaitlin’s idea, once Keira settled back into life she began to put down the roots she desperately yearned for. With her family surrounding her, Keira found a job at the local public library where she flourished.

Working in the library, in the basement in particular, Keira found something that she loved to do and found a passion for magical studies. Expanding her knowledge base and magical contacts, Keira began to be an outspoken member of the magical community something she feels both her father is proud of and something her mother would have been proud of.

PERSONALITY:
Growing up in Siren’s Cove, it has always been easy to tell the Sullivan twins apart. As kids Kaitlin was always considered the ‘Good Girl’, shy and sweet and popular while Keira, Keira was always and most definitely the ‘Wild Child’. Louder and more dominant than her twin, Keira was always getting into trouble when they were younger from her aggressive questioning of everything and everyone particularly of those in authority. Though age, and the loss of their mother, has tempered her- Keira has still grown up to be a tough, independent woman, capable of taking anyone who gets in her way or threatens her family.

Though their ma raised them all to speak up about things they believe in, it was Keira who took her words to heart. And it was Keira who has never been afraid to voice her opinion loudly (especially when Kaitlin doesn’t speak up and Keira knows she wants to.) This attitude combined with her stubborn streak (a trait she inherited from her strong willed father) inevitably gets her into trouble; both in her personal life and in her work life. Whether it’s from speaking out against Kaitlin’s latest squeeze or yelling at officials on prospective library closures, Keira’s voice is never lost in the crowd. Something she is very proud of.

However this attitude and stubborn nature can, and often does, cause Keira problems. Even when Keira needs help, she very rarely asks for it determined to stand on her own two feet without imposing on her family. By trying to protect her family from her own problems, Keira often makes things ten times worse for herself.

Though Keira looks like a hard, strong, confident woman, the truth is she is often isn’t. After losing their ma, Keira hide behind a mask of sarcasm and humor to protect herself. By pretending that she didn’t care, by pretending to be the strong one she started to really believe it and though she acts like she doesn’t want anyone in her life, her act has meant that those she has wanted to keep close she has pushed away.

To those Keira does let in though, for the few individuals she considers friends or family, Keira is deeply loyal. After her mom died, Keira was forced to grow up quick and never really had time to grieve for her. Trying to protect her family, Keira is often too loyal to them putting those she loves first and very rarely looking after herself (much to her sister’s annoyance.)

OPINION OF THE RIVALRY: Despite her mother preaching unity to all three of the Sullivan kids when they were younger, Keira firmly sides with her father and the Coombs family and is much more wary around the Thornton’s and much more protective of her own family. Although Kaitlin would want to give the Thornton’s a chance, Keira wants to protect her family from a hard world that might discriminate against them.

LIFESTYLE:
Keira works at the Siren Cove Public Library as a Librarian, she specifically works to catalogue and preserve the works housed in the basement. A vocal opponent to library closure, Keira has often led protests and raised money to keep the library running and keeping library vandalism (particularly of the magical texts) to a minimum.

Wanting to give Kaitlin some distance and the space she needed to grow, Keira lives in a large industrial loft by herself. Though Keira sometimes hates being out on her own, her loft is often filled with her family at the weekend and always feels homely, well loved and lived in despite the minimalistic feel of her apartment.

Keira as an active member of the magical community and can usually be found hanging out at Coombs tavern where she usually makes contacts and deals for hard to come by plants and texts. If she isn’t there, then she can usually be found in her downtime hanging out in the backrooms of Quill by herself or taking lunch with her sister there.

HUMAN, WITCH, OR SIREN: Witch. With her whole family being practitioners, Keira specialised early in herbology and potions. Working with magical plants and texts kept Keira grounded, rooting her when she felt bereft and making her feel close to her ma after she passed. Keira’s powers tend to run towards the defensive, with her skills in potion making she is well known in the magical community for her ability to build and create strong household wards and personal charms- keeping even the darkest curses from touching those she loves.
